I certainly hope that you or members of your staff will be joining us next week at the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) 2013 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, DC.

Regardless of whether you’re new to the home care industry or are a veteran agency executive, the annual NAHC convention will leave you energized and full of ideas about how to deal with upcoming regulatory changes and ways to help improve your home health or hospice agency.

The location of this year’s annual conference in our nation’s capital presents a special opportunity to make our voices heard with our congressional leaders. As always, networking with your peers is a great way to discover how other agencies are dealing with the same opportunities and challenges that you are.

While attending the educational sessions, be on the lookout for presenters from McKesson or agencies that are McKesson customers. We count 16 presenters who are McKesson customers. Lois Glanz from UnityPoint Health and Karen Martin from Martin Associates will join me at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 1 for session No. 505, “Combining Technology and Evidence-Based Practices to Improve Outcomes.”

Objectives of the session are:

  • Describe opportunities for home care and hospice agencies to participate in important IT initiatives
  • Illustrate how evidence-based clinical practices are the foundation of a home care and hospice clinical decision support system
  • Discuss the journey one agency took to move from a paper-based documentation system to a clinical decision support system using evidence-based practice and standardized terminology

Please consider the McKesson Homecare™ and McKesson Hospice™ booth No. 716 to be your home during the show. We’ll have fun Halloween trinkets during the opening evening reception on October 31. After lunch on Nov. 1 and 2, you can enjoy other special treats in the booth.

Use the Bingo card in your registration bag or pick one up in our booth and visit participating vendor partners to receive stickers for your card. Return the completed card to booth No. 716 to be eligible for one of 14 prizes.

Participating vendors are:

  • Simione™ Healthcare Consultants, booth 801
  • McKesson Medical Surgical, booth 825
  • PlayMaker CRM, booth 911
  • SHP, booth 925
  • DecisionHealth, booth 1424
  • WorldView Ltd., booth 1618

Meanwhile, those who view a personalized demonstration of the clinical management functionality, part of McKesson home health software will receive a stylus pen that can be used with touchscreen devices.

Exhibition hours are 5-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31; 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Nov. 1; and 9:30-2:30 p.m. on Nov. 2. This is an exciting time to be in the home care industry, and we’re proud to be part of the NAHC 2013 Annual Meeting & Exposition. We hope to see you there!
